In 2024, the Malian Savings Banks Association (CAECE) took up the CAAS’s suggestion to establish a local savings bank and, with our support, opened a branch in a building next to the health station, located directly on the highway. The building was renovated accordingly and equipped with a safe. It is the first and so far only banking facility in the entire district of Siby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The branch already has over 70 customers and manages savings deposits totaling 17 million FCFA (around \u20ac26,000). In addition, 30 loans have been granted \u2013 averaging 300,000 FCFA (approx. \u20ac450) \u2013 primarily to finance small commercial activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The demand is there \u2013 the branch is showing positive growth trends, but still needs technical support and partnerships. Since stable economic development in the region requires permanently available, trustworthy financial structures, the CAAS plans to handle its local income and expenses \u2013 for example, from the farm shop, dairy, oil mill, butchery, and electricity and water supply \u2013 through the savings bank in the future and to promote greater use and expansion of the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
