Promoting school education in Kalassa is a central component of village development and a long-term focus of CAAS’s work. Education creates perspectives—for children, families, and the entire region. CAAS works closely with the Malian public education authority CAP (Centre d’Animation Pédagogique), whose office is located in close proximity to the CAAS campus. All schools in Kalassa are public schools and are firmly integrated into the national education system.

Education as a Cornerstone

The lower secondary school in Kalassa (grades 7–9) has been in operation since 2024. The new primary school building for grades 4–6, made possible through a generous private donation, is currently under construction.
The new school buildings are characterized by carefully planned, climate-adapted architecture: light-filled, well-ventilated classrooms, sun-shaded walkways, and robust materials. In addition, it is planned to gradually equip the entire school complex with solar power. This will allow classrooms to be fitted with fans and illuminated in the evening, enabling their use for community events.
Buildings and infrastructure form the foundation, but the real impact comes from the school itself. School education strengthens children in their development, relieves families, and creates long-term perspectives for the village of Kalassa and its surrounding area. Together with the public education authority CAP, CAAS is helping to develop Kalassa step by step into an educational hub with model character for the region.
