The agricultural production and training facility Kalassa 1 is located about 1.5 km west of the campus on Route National No. 5. It consists of a large processing, technical and storage hall and an agricultural area of about 3 hectares for training purposes. The head of agriculture, Alassane Boré, has his administrative center on the site. The farm includes almost all the profitable work that a small farmer in Mandé can do.

  • The first animals of the future dairy herd
  • Veterinarian Dr. Doumbia with Guinea hens in the new poultry house
  • Chicks and young chickens
  • Feeding the goats in the outdoor area
  • Sahel billy goat
  • Two newborn kids
  • The flock of sheep

The eastern part of the Kalassa 1 site is used for agriculture and horticulture. In the western part of the farm there are more than 1,000 square meters of covered fodder storage, stables for dairy cows, dairy goats, beef cattle, sheep, chickens, turkeys, quails and pintads, accommodation for the shepherds and a slaughterhouse.

  • Processing of agricultural products in the large hall
  • Presentation of products for guests of honor during the opening in February 2025
  • Peanuts bought locally, preparation for the press
  • Loading the peanuts for pressing

Separate from livestock farming, fruit and vegetable processing takes place in a large hall in the center of the site. Here, trainees are taught processing and preservation techniques.

From their own agricultural and horticultural production, for example, tamarinds and citrus fruits are processed into juice, and spices such as turmeric, allspice and the popular Malian herbal tea Kinkeliba are also prepared.

The area around Siby is a center of peanut cultivation. An efficient oil mill for processing peanuts was therefore installed in spring 2025. It has been running continuously since it was commissioned in mid-March and processes over 1000 kg of peanuts into oil every day.

It also produces a peanut paste that is popular in Malian cuisine. CAAS obtains the peanuts from cooperatives in the surrounding villages. The CAAS products are intended to help stabilize the demand for peanuts and stabilize prices.

  • Agricultural land to the east of the site
  • The tangelo trees are already bearing fruit in their third year
  • Mango trees in the third year after planting
  • The leaves of the peanut plant are stored as animal feed
  • A bundle of peanut kraut costs between 200 and 300 FCFA
  • These jujube bushes are also grown as cattle feed
  • Drainage areas on the site hold back the water during the rainy season. They are planted with elephant grass, also animal fodder.

To cool the products, ice is also produced on site and sold to customers from the surrounding area. All other products manufactured on the farm are to be sold locally and nationally and help to finance training.

  • Passageway and water tower in the north of the site
  • View into the workshop
  • Ice cream machine
  • Products in the farm store

In addition to the cultivation areas, livestock farming and processing facilities, there is also a water tower, a workshop and a warehouse for the agricultural machinery, changing rooms, a toilet facility and a farm store with a bistro.
