10th cohort – operations continue

Despite the tense security situation in Mali, we are continuing our work at CAAS with determination. On April 25, 2026, attacks took place across the country by armed groups, including the jihadist alliance Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) as well as the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA, a coalition of armed groups in northern Mali). In our immediate region around Siby and Kalassa, the situation is currently calm.

The 10th cohort of our basic agricultural training program has begun. Currently, 55 trainees are on site, with additional participants expected in the coming days. As in previous cohorts, we aim to welcome up to 80 trainees in total.

The safety of our staff and trainees is our highest priority. All staff members are present on site, and activities are continuing in an adapted manner with increased awareness. At the same time, we are making efforts, wherever possible, to build up food reserves in order to be prepared for potential shortages.

Despite these challenging circumstances, we remain committed to our work. Supporting the training of young women, strengthening local structures, and promoting food security are of central importance—especially in times of crisis.
